Content and context

Collection of professional photographs, each 90 x 70 mm, published for the Yass Newsagency by the Valentine Publishing Co. Pty. Ltd., Sydney and Melbourne. Yass is 43 miles north of Canberra. Its population in 1947 was 3254.

Presented by Miss A.M. Stewart in 1968.

He settled at Yass in 1888, becoming a leading station owner and sheep dealer. He died in Yass in 1936 and the people of the town subsequently erected memorial gates at Victoria Park.
