| Content and context |
190 x 140 mm. A view from the bank, showing a curve in the river, with a railway line on the left. The track runs across a shored-up dam on the river, and off into a tunnel. The tunnel in the picture leads through to the Hakesbury Bridge on the Sydney-Newcastle line. Brooklyn is situated near the mouth of the Hawkesbury, just in from Broken Bay, and the bridge was opened in 1889, completing a system which now extended over 1700 miles from Brisbane to Melbourne and Sydney, and then through to Adelaide. |
