Photographs of New Guinea

Title Group of natives, Kerepunu, Hood Lagoon
Reference Y3084A/32
Covering Dates 1884
Content and context

285 x 230 mm. A view showing a group of five naked males, with four children, standing in front of a row of huts. This picture was taken shortly after the proclamation at Kerepunu: the flagstaff and its supporting wire are visible in the foreground. The picture is taken from 'Espiegle Square', looking down a 'street' of houses. In the background, with the characteristic 'spire', the chief's house can be seen.
