127 x 101 mm. Showing an unidentified building (flying the American flag) on the waterfront at Saint George's Cay (also known as Kay Casine). Saint George's Cay is the outermost of the mass of protective islands which lie at the harbour mouth of Belize City and has been the scene of several incidents, most notably the Spanish attack in September 1779 (when 140 prisoners and 250 slaves were captured and transported to Havana, where they remained until 1782), and the battle of 1798 when the settlement was held against a superior Spanish naval force. |
