Content and context

228 x 278 mm. Showing the Curtain, a formation consisting of great folds of stalactite formations in one of the chambers of the Cango Caves. The Cango Caves are situated about nineteen miles west of Oudtshoorn near the foot of the Zwartberg Pass. This spectacular cave system was discovered in 1780 by a Dutch farmer named van Zijl and contains some Bushmen paintings near the entrance.
