243 x 198 mm. A view looking west along the waterfront road towards the Sultan's palace, the Beit-el-Ajeib (not visible), with the hull of a ship (history unknown) mounted beside the road. The lighthouse seen here in front of the Beit-el-Ajeib was damaged in the bombardment of 1896. The Sultan's living quarters the Beit-el-Ajeib being primarily ceremonial rather than residential, were to the rear of the house seen beyond the prow of the ship. |
