| Content and context |
214 x 155 mm. A view looking down on an open coach and escort entering the Residency drive. The occupants of the coach are hidden but the occasion is possibly the visit of Dr Stuhlmann, acting Governor of German East Africa, who arrived in Zanzibar later on the same day as Prince Adalbert and whose carriage 'was attended by a section of the mounted Body Guard' ('Zanzibar Gazette', February 15th 1905). Stuhlmann visited the Residency for luncheon on Sunday February 12th 1905 and was decorated by Rogers with the Sultan's Order of the Brilliant Star of the 1st Class. |
