J.B. Struthers was the first manager of the National Bank of India, Entebbe branch from 1906, and was also, at the time of his death, the National Bank of India's oldest European pensioner.
A collection of photographs of specialist and varying interest. Often, their provenance is uncertain, but most were probably taken by Mr. Struthers, or his associates. Some are certainly by Lobo, Entebbe, because identical stances, or different minor incident is found in reproduced photographs by this early Goan professional in Uganda in Wallis 'Handbook of Uganda', 2nd edtn, 1920. The following photographs may be of particular note: 3, 4, 8, 9, 12, 13, 17, 21, 26, 30, 31, 39, 41 and 49.
Presented to the Centre of African Studies-University of Edinburgh, by Miss Sheila Struthers, the daughter of J.B. Struthers, in June 1984, and deposited with the Edinburgh University Library before March 1988.
