159 x 120 mm. A view showing a group of Hadendowah Sudanese, with an Egyptian military policeman in the foreground. Whether these are captured or friendly Hadendowah is not specified. The Mahdi's forces evacuated Berber after their defeat at Abu Hamed and Kitchener's forces occupied the town on August 31 1897. These men may have been left behind by the Mahdi. |
