A collection of modern copy prints made from copy negatives. The copy negatives were made from original prints in the possession of the granddaughter of C.E. Spooner, Mrs Diana Messenger.
Charles Edwin Spooner was born in Wales and after education at Trinity College Dublin and engineering training, commenced his career with North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways. From 1876 to 1891, he worked in Ceylon for the Surveys Department. In 1891 he was appointed State Engineer for Selangor and in 1901 General Manager of the Federated Malay States Railways. He was a keen sportsman and amateur artist.
The copy negatives were supplied to the RCS by J.M. Gullick in March 1988.
