| Content and context |
100 x 132 mm. Showing the massive 368 foot spire of the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, situated on a hill overlooking Rangoon. The original date of foundation of the temple is lost in myth, but the buildings assumed their present form in the 1560s. A pencilled annotation on the reverse of the print includes the additional phrase 'from North entrance'. The ink annotation on the reverse states 'Photo by J. Jackson, Rangoon'. |
