296 x 225 mm. General view from the side of the Subrahmanya Temple in the courtyard of the Great Pagoda. This smaller temple is of later date than the main shrine (built in the 17th century), and is described by Fergusson (p. 365), as 'as exquisite a piece of decorative architecture as is to be found in the south of India, and though small, almost divides our admiration with the temple itself'. The temple is a single storey rectangular structure, decorated with pilasters of various design along its
facade, and surmounted at one end by a richly carved pyramid topped by a dome. Bourne no. 2045.
