RCS/Y3017A contains:
1 Malta. St Elmo [Ceremonial salute]. 146 x 103 mm. A view looking seawards on the western side of Fort St. Elmo, along the French Curtain towards St. Geroge's Bastion. The smoke from cannon fire can be seen above the fort as well as two spouts of water where shells have landed in the sea.
Good condition, apart from slight fading at edges..
2 Malta. Review of troops before Governor's Palace. 147 x 102 mm. A view looking over Palace Square from the Governor's Palace with troops on parade and a military band in front of the Main Guard Buildings. With Old Theatre Street at the left of the photograph.
Good condition..
3 Malta. Marina and fortifications. 201 x 147 mm. A view looking across Grand Harbour showing the landing stages and fortifications at the southern end of Valletta. With steam and sailing ships in the harbour. The twin towers of St. John's Co-Cathedral can be seen on the skyline at the right of the print. This print is also captioned, on the reverse and in a different hand, 'Valletta from Fort St Angelo'.
Good condition, apart from slight fading at edges..
4 Malta. Landing stage. 199 x 147 mm. A view looking down on the Barriera Wharf from the roof of the fish market with the quayside lined with karrozzin (horse-drawn cabs) and Maltese fishing boats lined up near the wharf. Larger steamers are moored in the background.
Good condition..
5 Malta. Marina. 197 x 147 mm. A view from the pier showing berthed ferries in the foreground with the San Salvatore Bastion and St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral beyond. Also captioned, on the reverse and in a different hand, 'Marsamuxett Side of Valletta'.
Good condition..
6 Malta. Marina. 200 x 147 mm. A view looking along the Strand towards the Sliema ferry landing stages with St. Anne's Square in the background and the Jesus of Nazareth Church and Convent on the Tigne sea front at the right of the print. Several ranks of Karrazzin (horse-drawn cabs) are standing in the foreground with their drivers seated on the pavement. Also captioned, on the reverse and in a different hand, 'The Strand, Sliema'.
Good condition, apart from slight fading at edges..
