W. Moloney. 72 x 98 mm. Snapshot of William Moloney and two unidentified ladies standing on a tennis court. Moloney is mentioned in Bell's diary synopsis for August 26, 1919:. 'While at Henley I made the acquaintance of Wm. Moloney, a very remarkable young man with great natural gifts of many kinds. He has been a prisoner of the Germans during the War and while in captivity had learnt Arabic and had deeply studied the Koran. He was a remarkable musician, and he was able to make pictures of the Persians of the Middle Ages which were full of very minute details of armour, etc. He seems to have done these under some occult influence. After his release from captivity he went to Oxford and formed strong friendships with many distinguished men - Chesterton and others, who caused his Persian drawings to be reproduced. My diaries in the years 1919 and et seq. contain many interesting references to this remarkable man'. Creator: Unknown. Good condition.. |
