| Content and context |
Showing Bell seated on the riverbank reading a newspaper with a crocodile behind him: 'After lunch I shot a croc through the head, and Gray and I took a 'faked photo' of it. We propped open its tremendous jaws and posed him so as to let it appear that he was creeping stealthily up towards me, who am seated on the grass, placidly reading a newspaper. It made me quite a realistic picture.' (Bell 1907, March 1). |
