| Content and context |
Showing a leopard cub tethered in a pen: 'Kassagama presented me with a fine young leopard and a splendid bull .... The leopard is a bit of a handful and we spent the better part of this morning in seeing that he is securely fastened. He is only about twice the size of a terrier, but very fierce, and growls and snarls incessantly. I only hope he won't make a meal of poor Tots.' (Bell 1907, February 15). |
