Frederick Seguier Drake (b. 1892), O.B.E., B.A., B.D., followed his father into the Baptist Missionary Society in Shantung Province, China. He was ejected from China by the Communists in 1950, and became Professor of Chinese at the University of Hong Kong, 1951-1964.
Fourteen undated sketches depicting views of the University of Hong Kong, many of which have since disappeared under high-rise developments. Twelve of the sketches are incorporated into Christmas cards from F.S. and D.M. Drake. The sketches are presumably from Drake's time as Professor of Chinese. There is an accompanying letter from Bernard Drake to T.A. Barringer, R.C.S. Librarian, 7 December 1996.
Presented by Bernard Drake, son of Frederick Drake, December 1996.
