Content and context

Bertram Reginald Whitehouse (b. 1891) was appointed to the Straits Settlements in 1915, and was posted to various areas there and in Malaya in ensuing years. In 1927 he became Acting Deputy Register of the Supreme Court in Singapore, and later passed the District Judges' Examination. He served in Kalantan as a District Officer, 1929-1931, and from then until his retirement in 1935 he was a judge in Malacca and Penang.

Letters and papers relating to Whitehouse's career in Malaya, written in English unless otherwise indicated.

The provenance of the collection is unknown.
