The file contains Tennant's commissions in the East India Company army and the British Army; a detailed history of his service; his permission to retire; correspondence regarding the manufacture of brass strip for small arms ammunition; and a roll of officers who served in the Bengal Engineers from 1756 to 1898. It also includes one letter from Lord Roberts and one from Sir David Stewart.
