Sir (Albert) Cecil Day (1885-1963) was born in Gloucestershire and educated at Northleach Grammar School. He was Assistant Private Secretary to the Governor of New Zealand, 1910-1912, and Official Secretary to successive Governor Generals, 1912-1936. From 1936 to 1952 he was the New Zealand Liaison Officer in London for Foreign Affairs, and was attached to the New Zealand Delegation to the League of Nations Assembly, 1936, the Imperial Conference, 1937, and the first General Assembly of the U.N., 1946.
