The work has no formal title. It is comprised of an introductory note, 4 pages, headed 'Townsville Cleveland Bay, Queensland, August 31 1885', referring to the author's sixteen years' experience of dialects; 172 pages of vocabulary, with aboriginal words in alphabetical order on the left hand page, and English translations on the right; native songs and chants, the aboriginal version of the Lord's Prayer, etc., 4 pages; and notes on pronunciation, 2 pages.
