Samuel Waterman Viveash, M.R.C.S. (1799-1880), was born on 15 February 1799. He married Susan Smith at Newington, Oxfordshire, in 1835, and emigrated to Swan River, Western Australia, in 1838. The couple lived on the Houghton estate on the Swan for a short period, and thereafter at Wexcombe and Ashby, raising a large family. Viveash died on 13 June 1880, and was buried in the churchyard at Middle Swan.
A typescript copy of Viveash's diary of his activities from his emigration to the Swan River in 1838 until September 1851, 229 pages. There is a brief introduction and index by Canon A. Burton, who arranged the preparation of the typescript.
