The typescript of a paper read to the Royal Colonial Institute, 26 March 1895, with manuscript corrections. The lecture discusses Bonwick's experiences, chiefly in England, of researching Australian history.
The typescript was presumably presented to the R.C.I. after the lecture in 1895.

There is a summary of the lecture in 'Proceedings of the Royal Colonial Institute', vol. 26, 1894-1895, pp. 270-272. It was published in full in 'The home news', 29 March 1895, and reprinted in a 16 page pamphlet by the Government Printer, Sydney (Ferguson 7265), with some minor variations from the original. The lecture was transcribed without the introductory remarks on history in general in 'Royal Commonwealth Society library notes', nos 111 and 112, pp. 1-4.
