A wide range of material concerning different countries in North and South America, notably Canada, Belize and the West Indian islands. A number of the collections are comprised of single items, such as legal documents and paintings.
The collections were received by the R.C.S. from a number of different sources, details of which are given with the relevant collection.

History of the Rudolf family of Nova Scotia. An undated photocopy of a manuscript entitled 'History of my Great-Grandfather, written by himself', comprised of handwritten copies of Rudolf family documents, 13 pages. It begins with the autobiography of Leonard Christopher Rudolf, followed by a list of Rudolf's descendants and a family tree. The manuscript was presumably written by one of the children of L.C. A framed scroll prepared on the occasion of Jamaica's independence, 1 August 1962, 22'' x 40½'', paying tribute to 'assets of great worth' in Great Britain's association with Jamaica. Jamaica marriage settlement. The document, dated 5 April 1792, deals with the provision to be made for Richard Welch, Junior, and Alice Anne Preston on the occasion of their marriage. It gives particulars of the estate provided in the settlement and its slaves. There is an accompanying letter from Professor Mollie Cottingham to D.H. Simpson, R.C.S. Librarian, 10 January 1970 (6 pages), giving the background to the document and the links between the Cottingham family and the Welch family. Document of the Mosquito Nation. A printed parchment form, 11½'' x 11½'', completed in manuscript, appointing Leonard P. Cox as Receiver General to the King of the Mosquito Nation in Central America. The document has been signed by King R.C. Frederic and the three Commissioners of the Mosquito Nation, and has an embossed seal. The parchment is accompanied by the article 'A document of the Mosquito Kingdom' in 'Royal Commonwealth Society library notes', no. 57, September 1961, pp. 1-2, which transcribes the document and outlines the history of the Mosquito Kingdom. British Honduras slave sale poster. A printed poster of the Provost Marshal's sales, June Grand Court, 11 June 1827, advertising the sale of slaves at the Court House on 25 June 1827. The poster gives the names of the owners and slaves and the cost price, although some of these details have been cut out and removed. Directions to Calder Bank off Guadeloupe. An account by Calder of his discovery on 30 January 1795 of a sea bank off Guadeloupe, which he named after himself (3 pages). The bank has not been traced, and presumably has an alternative French name.
