In 1933 a School Empire Tour directed by John Guise and Malcolm Dowson visited Eastern Canada, Labrador and Newfoundland. Harold Welch was one of the members of the party.

Diaries and photograph albums of the 1933 tour created or collected by Harold Welch. There is a covering letter from Welch to T.A. Barringer, R.C.S. Librarian, 28 March 1997, regarding the collection.

1 Tour diary of Harold Welch. A manuscript diary of the Empire Tour, 200 pages. At the front are the names of the two directors, the advance agent and the members of the tour party. Press cuttings and other items have been stuck into the volume. At the back is a list of 'photos entered for the competition'. Loose in the diary are six letters to home from 'Bunty', 14 August 1933 - 3 October 1933; a set of the signatures of the tour party; and a few other items.
