Content and context

During the Blackspot Removal Campaign the National Party Government in South Africa passed legislation that forced black communities living on freeholdings in white rural areas to leave and resettle on infertile land and in townships. The campaign was its height during the period covered by the material in this collection.

Papers and a few photographs and negatives concerning the impact of the Blackspot Removal Campaign in the province of Natal. Most of the papers are written in English, but there are a few items in Afrikaans and Xhosa.
