Content and context

In 1927, Ursula Massey married Richard Eric Holttum, who served as Assistant Director, Botanic Gardens, Singapore during 1922-1925 and Director between 1925 and 1949. During 1949-1954 Holttum was Professor of Botany, University of Malaya.

Letters containing Ursula Holttum's account of her return to Singapore after leaving it in 1940 soon after the outbreak of the Second World War (28 sheets).
