Material related to the movement for Malayan self-government and the formation of the Independence of Malaya Party by Dato Omn bin Jaafar. The file includes a memorandum by the British Association of Malaya (three copies) commenting upon developments, and correspondence related to its circulation, as well as the reaction of other organisations such as the Directors of the Companies of the Trench-Malayan Tin Group, the Rubber Growers' Association, the British Association of Straits Merchants, and the Eastern Exchange Banks Association (circa 40 sheets).
