Content and context

Contains loose photographs by José Anjo with pencilled captions and photographer's stamp on the reverse of the prints. The pictures show buildings and a public garden in St. Kitts and Nevis (the two islands were formed into a union in 1882, although the idea had been mooted as early as 1723). The fourth image is a duplicate of No. 3.

2 Public buildings at Basseterre, St Kitts. 244 x 195 mm. Showing the imposing government offices which stand on the waterfront in the St. Kitts capital with promenaders on the seafront and cloud covered mountains in the distance.

3 Bath House Hotel, Nevis. 211 x 160 mm. A view showing the square, stone building with a flag reading 'Bath House' flying from the roof. The hotel was presumably situated in Charlestown, the capital of Nevis.
