Content and context

Contains loose photographs by José Anjo with pencilled captions and photographer's stamp on the reverse of the prints. The pictures show buildings and a public garden in St. Kitts and Nevis (the two islands were formed into a union in 1882, although the idea had been mooted as early as 1723). The fourth image is a duplicate of No. 3.

Public buildings at Basseterre, St Kitts. 244 x 195 mm. Showing the imposing government offices which stand on the waterfront in the St. Kitts capital with promenaders on the seafront and cloud covered mountains in the distance.

Bath House Hotel, Nevis. 211 x 160 mm. A view showing the square, stone building with a flag reading 'Bath House' flying from the roof. The hotel was presumably situated in Charlestown, the capital of Nevis.
