Quarter-plate. The mined rock is brought in small cars from the bottom of the shaft ; the car is put on what is called a hoist and brought to the surface : then it is run out along rails and emptied as in these views. The rock... [lost by water stain] 'concentrates' the waste removed, and the finer 'silver' ... reduced to a size that permits shipment. |
