These photographs relate chiefly to the reception of distinguished visitors to Britain from Commonwealth countries, though one or two items show the effect of British Aid in the country concerned. In most cases there are only a few items on each visit, but there are some more substantial collections e.g. Canada Nos. 17-27 relate to a visit of Canadian Parliamentarians in 1984, Malaysia Nos. 4-24 to the visit of the Yang di Pertuan Agong in 1974, Nigeria Nos. 59-71 to visits of newspaper editors, and Pakistan Nos. 6-37 to British Aid to Afghan refugees in Pakistan 1982. The Tristan da Cunha photos all deal with islanders in Britain after the eruption of 1961.
