There are 118 different pictures; 1-37, 71-117 are prints, with negatives of 34-37; 38-70, including 49a, are from the personal collection of Hugh Patterson Bryson presented to the RCS towards the end of his life, and relate to his post-war work as British Adviser, Negri Sembilan, from which he retired in 1951. |

Menghadap at Sri Menanti, Negri Sembilan, 1934. 197 x 148 mm. Showing Tuanku Abdul Rahman and his consort Tunku Ampuan Kursiah seated on the decorated dais in the audience hall for the Menghadap. The triennal menghadap was inaugurated at Sri Menanti in 1901 and on these occasions the ruling chiefs paid homage to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar in front of members of the royal family and government officials. Sheppard (1965) states that Abdul Rahman held his first menghadap in 1937, but the presence of Caldecott and London in the following print would appear to substantiate Brysons date of 1934.
