Sir James Parker was born in 1803, the son of Charles Steuart Parker of Blockairn. He was educated at Glasgow Grammar School and Trinity College, Cambridge, BA 1825; MA 1828. Barrister at Lincoln's Inn, 1829; Q.C. 1844; Vice-Chancellor, 1851. He was knighted in 1851. Parker was married Mary, third daughter of Thomas Babington of Rothley Temple in 1829. He died in 1852.
