Content and context

Explains that he had just heard from Noel that he intends to come on 19 [December], when he received his mother's letter [apparently informing him of an outbreak of measles in the area]. Does not believe that there would be a danger of contagion, but intends to write to Noel, alluding to 'the fact of measles', but not suggesting that they should not come. Advises her to expect him on 18 or 19 [December] if she does not hear from him.
