Dictated. Refers to Young's interesting letter, which gave him much pleasure.. Explains that he has been confined to bed and is on a fluid diet, and is suffering from a digestive disturbance. Refers to 'the Chinese nightmare', and 'the collision and interpenetration of European [sciences] and [European] institutions'. Sends regards from himself and his wife to Young and Mrs Young. Explains that his wife is writing the letter.
