| Writes in reply to HS's own reply to his letter of 10 August. Fears that HS may not have fully appreciated the fact that he [Courthope] was genuinely grateful for the review of his work. Refers to some points raised by HS in his reply and refers back to the review in the Spectator. Concludes by expressing his reply at the regard in which the Italian poet Tassoni is held by HS, who, according to Courthope, is one of the most negligent poets [he] know[s] in the construction of his story.' |
