WW had a letter from Spring Rice saying he would support George Peacock for the Lowndean professorship out of personal firendship. WW complained to Lord Fitzwilliam claiming he would have preferred minister's made their decision based on merit rather than personal friendship. Lord Lansdowne also informed WW that he would be voting for Peacock. WW has has a letter from a formr pupil of his who 'is just publishing a work On the Distribution of Wealth suggested by living in France and seeing the economical, moral, and political effects of the division of property there. I think I shall write to him to read your book'.
