Writes to express his sympathy to NS on the death of HS. Claims that although he had met the later seldom of late, he doesn't know 'that any loss would have felt more irreparable.' Recalls to the last time he had a conversation with him at Aldworth in September 1898, and declares that he shall never forget 'the charm, the fun, and the depth of much that he said.' Claims that he has taught him that there must be some underlying unity under differences of religious belief which ought to allay many controversies if people would think more about it.
