JDF sends a photograph of himself and hopes WW will return the compliment and send one of himself. Thanks WW for his lectures on political economy ['Six Lectures on Political Economy', 1862]. He has informed his printer to send WW an address he gave to the Edinburgh Royal Society, which although of mainly local interest, touches on wider issues concerning the working of scientific societies. It also has attached a biography of M. Necker of Geneva - 'a very particular friend of mine'. Gives news regarding his two sons. The University Commission in Scotland has finished: 'I believe they have done their best. I think they have done much good'. |
