JDF forgot to give his symapthy in his last letter 'to the loss which your friend and connection Mr Marshall sustained by the death of his wife'. He also omitted to recommend the Royal Society of Edinburgh and St. Andrew's University as the best Scottish destinations for WW to send his book on Barrow ['Barrow and his Academical Times', 1859].
