ADM 'has sketched out a proof of the composition of forces which seems to separate the mathematical from the mechanical part better than Poisson's, and to show the matematical bearing of one or two steps much better'. If Gregory approves of it, ADM would like WW to communicte it to the Cambridge Philosophical Society Journal. ADM would like to know something about Herman.
