A biographical history of Sir Winston Churchill (WSC) is available as part of the introduction to Sir Winston's own papers.
The 'Churchill Additional' collection is distinct from Sir Winston Churchill's own papers because the 'Churchill Additional' material has a different provenance (it was not maintained with Sir Winston's own archive) and cannot be considered as having been generated by the same processes as Sir Winston's papers. Much of the collection was not generated, accumulated or received by Churchill, but came from various different sources. It includes a diverse range of material: correspondence, with many letters to Churchill's mother, Lady Randolph Churchill; visual and audio records, most notably Churchill's own record collection and recordings of many of his most famous wartime speeches; material relating to the official biography of Churchill's life; material relating to Churchill's death and funeral; individual items formerly kept on display at Churchill's old home, Chartwell [Kent]; a large number of files relating to the "Churchill" television documentary made in 1992, chiefly tapes and transcripts of interviews gathered for the programme; correspondence and papers from Churchill's last years as MP for Woodford, Essex; copies and transcripts of correspondence between Clementine and Winston Churchill, throughout their marriage.
The items which make up this collection have been deposited at Churchill Archives Centre from many different sources.
This collection increases steadily as material is donated to Churchill Archives Centre.
