Professor Timothy Travers, University of Calgary [Canada], took his Ph.D. in history at Yale University [United States]. His research interests include: 19th and 20th century warfare; modern tactical and strategic thought; film and history; and popular culture. Travers's other publications include: "Samuel Smiles and the Victorian work ethic" (1987); "How the war was won: command and technology in the British Army on the Western Front, 1917-1918" (1992); "Gallipoli 1915" (2001).

The collection is open for consultation by researchers using Churchill Archives Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge. Churchill Archives Centre is open from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. A prior appointment and two forms of identification are required.
Researchers wishing to publish excerpts from the papers must obtain prior permission from the copyright holders and should seek advice from Archives Centre staff.
