Comprising a photocopy pilot's certificate of competency and licence, 6 January 1936; a curriculum vitae of his career in the Auxiliary Air Force from 1937 to 1944, with a photocopy manuscript draft, undated; a certificate of appointment to the rank of Pilot Officer, 7 March 1938; a letter from Winston Churchill congratulating 615 Squadron on their recent record of enemy kills, 7 June 1940; a certificate recording the award of a Mentioned in Despatches (MID), 29 September 1940; and copies of 4 black-and-white photographs of 615 Squadron, 1938-9.
The papers were deposited in Churchill Archives Centre by Walter Stern's son, Nigel Stern, 2006.
