Unfortunately we know nothing about Macliesh except what it is possible to learn from these papers.
This collection mainly consists of Macliesh's diaries that deal with events at Gallipoli but there are also some letters and photographs.
These papers were deposited at Churchill Archives Centre in 1967 by Macliesh's daughter.

The collection is open for consultation by researchers using Churchill Archives Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge. Churchill Archives Centre is open from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. A prior appointment and two forms of identification are required.
Researchers wishing to publish excerpts from the papers must obtain prior permission from the copyright holders and should seek advice from Archives Centre staff.

Family Letters. This file mostly contains letters (2 August 1914-11 June 1916) written to MacLiesh's mother but there is also one to his brother Hugh and one to an aunt. There is a also a cutting from The Times (3 May 1919) containing Admiral de Robeck's dispatch on the Dardanelles.

Photographs - Dardanelles. This album contains uncaptioned photographs of ships, personnel, damage and daily activities. There are also some loose photographs and a press cutting (6 May 1916) about a Zepplin being brought down by the fleet near Salonica, Greece.
