Kennedy's journals were written during his career as diplomatic correspondent of "The Times" from 1919-42 and subsequently as diplomatic correspondent, European Division, with the BBC and give a fascinating insight into the events and personalities at the centre of affairs in Europe in the years between the Wars and during the Second World War. Inserted into the volumes are typescripts of interviews Kennedy conducted with Anthony Eden, Sir John Simon and with President Benes of Czechoslovakia amongst others. See Gordon Martel (ed.) "The Times and appeasement : the journals of A.L. Kennedy, 1932-1939" (Camden, 5th ser., 16). Cambridge: Cambridge University Press for the Royal Historical Society, 2000
