The Papers of Neil Kinnock

Briefings, correspondence and arrangements for NK's visits and meetings, including NK's various visits to the United States, the Soviet Union, South America and the Middle East, and also his tours of East Africa in 1985 and Southern Africa in 1988. Includes European Commission visits and meetings.

In a few cases where multiple visits to one country (or continent, in the case of Africa), or visits relating to a particular policy area, such as Europe, had been brought together, the purpose of the files was judged to have changed from just being a brief for a visit, to being more to do with foreign policy, and in these cases the files have been placed in Foreign Affairs (KNNK 10) or European Union (KNNK 8). A further sub-series of invitations which were refused have been disposed of.
