Fedor Vladimirovich Minorsky was born 19 February 1916, in Petrograd. He was the son of Vladimir Fed'orovich Minorsky (1877-1966) and Tatiana Shebunina (died 1987). During World War II he was in the Foreign Legion. He travelled to a Legion Camp at Sidi-Bel-Abbes and when he went to stay with a friend in Casablanca he took the opportunity to escape from the Legion. He died in Marseilles, after a short illness, 15 June 1950.
These files mostly consist of drafts, in French and in English, of Minorsky's account of his escape in 1942.
These papers were deposited at Churchill Archives Centre, Cambridge, by Mrs Minorsky in August 1971.
