The Anglo-American impresario Russell Hardy was brought up in New York and was one of the first to volunteer for service when the United States entered the First World War. As an impresario he produced and presented "The All Nations Cavalcades", each with over a thousand performers, in Britain and the United States, and also several major concerts including "The Ivor Novello Story" and "The Mario Lanza Story". He was in London during the Second World War, experiencing the Battle of Britain and the Blitz, and from about 1968 campaigned for an International Churchill Remembrance Day. During his campaign he interviewed many resistance agents from France, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Britain. He died on 1 September 1982.
Material relating to Russell Hardy's campaign for a National Churchill Day, including material on Second World War Resistance movements and a memorial to Ivor Novello.
The papers were given to Churchill Archives Centre by Lynn Maury in October 2003 and May 2004.
The papers are owned by Churchill College, Cambridge.
