On people including: King Fuad I of Egypt, [Saad] Zaghloul, [Benito] Mussolini, Cardinal [Pietro] Gasparri, [Abdel Khaliq] Sarwat Pasha. Includes letters concerning accusation that Lloyd had condemned British government policy in Egypt in conversation with an Italian government official and an American journalist. Also includes copy of letter from Samuel Hoare to Sir Austen Chamberlain on the operation of the Air Force in the Sudan [27 Mar 1928], and letter to Lloyd informing him of his elevation to the peerage, from Ronald Waterhouse on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Includes discussion of negotiations with the Italians over the region of Jaghboub; accounts of interviews with King Fuad I of Egypt; reports of events that have occurred with discussion of the principal participants, and discussion of actions Lloyd has taken and of his intended actions. Persons discussed include Prime Ministers [Ahmad] Ziwar Pasha, 'Adly' [Adli Yakan Pasha], and 'Sarwat' [Abdel Khaliq Sarwat Pasha]; [Hassan] Nashaat Pasha; [Saad] Zaghloul Pasha [Prime Minister in 1924, President from 1926] and his Wafd party, and Sidky Pasha. Including accounts of interviews with King Fuad I of Egypt. Persons discussed include Prime Ministers [Ahmad] Ziwar Pasha, 'Adly' [Adli Yakan Pasha], and 'Sarwat' [Abdel Khaliq Sarwat Pasha]; [Hassan] Nashaat Pasha; [Saad] Zaghloul Pasha [Prime Minister in 1924, President from 1926] and his Wafd party; Sidky Pasha, and British officials. Also includes accounts of visits to the Sudan, including a tour through the country, comment on negotiations with the Italians over the region of Jaghboub, and account of later meeting with Mussolini [5 Nov 1926]. Also includes notes of meeting between Archer and other officials relating to planned visit to Sayed Sir Abd el Rahman at Aba Island, and record of points raised in conversation with Archer regarding his resignation following his mishandling of the visit to Aba Island. Also includes copies of letters from Archer to the Under-Secretary of State at the Colonial Office, regarding his pension.

With correspondents including: George Schuster, Sir Wesey Sterry, H. A. MacMichael, and W. Nicholls [Governor of the White Nile Province]. Also includes account by Schuster of visit to provinces in Sudan and rivalry with Italy over dams and water supply; documents relating to the spread of Mahdism, to Sayed Abd el Rahman el Mahdi, and to Archer's visit to Aba Island, sent to Sir Wasey Sterry by H. A. MacMichael, and notes of interview between MacMichael and Sir Sayed Ali Mirghani.

Also includes report of the Sudan Civil Service committee on pay and prospects.

Mostly on matters of administration and infrastructure, including: personnel and staffing, including relating to General Hubert Huddleston; the RAF [Royal Air Force] in the Sudan, including its patrols in the Gwek area; Maffey's visit to Eritrea and relations between Italian government of Eritrea and British government of the Sudan, particularly regarding irrigation; honours for British officials serving in the Sudan; agriculture, particularly in the Gezira region and with reference to cotton-growing and the Sudan Plantations Syndicate; the Gebel Aulia dam; the question of Abyssinia appointing consuls to the Sudan; Massey's visit to Darfur; the Grand Qadi of the Sudan, and the division of responsibilities in the Sudan between Lloyd and Maffey. Also includes letter to Lloyd from General [later Sir] Hubert Huddleston, and paper entitled 'Note to council on certain proprosals in furtherance of the policy of devolution', with covering note by Maffey.
